The golf shop staff can help you get started. You do not need to walk in knowing every answer.
Give yourself time
Aim to arrive about thirty minutes early for a casual round, or earlier if you want a longer warm-up. Say, “I have a tee time at ten under Lawson.” Confirm the number of holes, walking or riding, and anything you need to rent.
Ask the useful questions
Find out where the first tee is, when to meet the starter, and whether there are Local Rules or cart restrictions. Check the day’s pace expectations. The starter organizes groups and helps them begin on time.
Warm up without rushing
Move comfortably, make a few easy practice swings in a safe area, and roll some putts if time allows. Go to the assigned tee early enough to be ready at your starting time.
Meet your playing partners
Introduce yourself and say if you are new. You can be a good playing partner while learning. Stay aware, ask when unsure, and keep moving between shots.
