Tee colors do not decide who you are. They mark different course lengths.

Match the challenge

Choose tees that let you keep the ball moving and reach greens with reasonable shots. Your normal distance and current ability matter more than age, gender, or what someone else chooses.

Ask for help

Tell the starter or coach how far a solid 7-iron travels and that you are learning. The USGA’s Best Tees approach uses 7-iron distance as one guide to course length. A course’s recommendations are more useful than assuming every white or red tee means the same thing.

Use shorter courses

Forward tees, par-3 courses, and nine-hole rounds give you real golf without making every hole a long-distance test. A group can use different tees in a casual round. Follow assigned tees in competitions.
