A golf club and ball can hurt someone. Check the area before every swing.
Make room
At the range, stay within your bay and behind the hitting line when others swing. On the course, keep people clear of the club’s arc and the ball’s likely path. Do not hit toward a group within reach.
Warn immediately
If your ball could reach someone, shout “Fore!” right away and loudly enough to be useful. If you hear the warning nearby, protect your head and avoid turning toward the ball to look for it.
Respect the conditions
Follow staff instructions for storms, frost, and closures. If lightning threatens, stop and seek the course’s designated substantial shelter. A tree or open-sided golf cart is not safe lightning shelter. Young players should know which adult to contact.
Choose the safe option
Never climb a steep bank or reach into water for a ball. Take an allowed relief option or ask for help. One ball is not worth an injury.
